The Streets Maintenance team, consisting of a supervisor and three full-time employees, is responsible for the upkeep of all city streets, alleys, and right-of-way areas. Their work includes:
Patching and repairing roads to ensure safe driving conditions.
Repainting traffic control markings, such as crosswalks and lane dividers.
Repairing, replacing, and installing traffic and pedestrian signs.
Controlling vegetation that could obstruct roadways or signage visibility.
Maintaining drainage ditches and flood control measures to prevent water buildup on streets.

The City maintains three wells and a large storage tank on W-Mountain, providing water to over 1,500 residences through a 44-mile pipe network. The storage tank holds 1.5 million gallons, sufficient for one day in summer or three in winter. Commercial properties must install backflow prevention systems to protect the water system. The City is updating water meters annually, replacing 10% each year with newer, electronically readable models.

Willcox sources natural gas from multiple vendors and distributes it through a 46-mile pipeline network, with capacity for 63 million cubic feet per hour. The City also replaces 10% of gas meters annually with electronically readable ones for accuracy. Federal law allows residents to request an Excess Flow Valve for additional gas safety; please contact City Hall for details.

The Wastewater Treatment team manages Willcox’s wastewater through a dedicated facility located on East Maley Street. This facility treats water from throughout the city using a gravity-fed system supported by lift stations, ensuring that all wastewater is processed safely and efficiently. Treated water is used for irrigation at nearby areas, and any excess is pumped into Cochise Lake, creating a valuable habitat for local wildlife.
The current wastewater facility is undergoing updates to meet new standards and ensure continued compliance with environmental regulations.

The City of Willcox manages residential and commercial trash removal to ensure a clean and healthy environment. In accordance with Ordinance No. NS303, all properties with water service are required to have trash collection. Residential trash is collected twice weekly on Tuesdays and Fridays, while commercial customers have additional options to meet their needs.
To receive bulk pick-up service customers must schedule by calling Southwest Disposal at (520) 881-4227.
Residential Service: $23.49 per month, with collection twice a week. Refuse should be placed in tightly secured, leak-proof plastic bags before being put in the container.
Commercial Service: Options include 96-gallon containers at $24.72 per month for twice-weekly collection, as well as 1.5-yard and 3-yard containers with rates based on container size and frequency of pickups. Commercial customers may contract with any licensed hauler in Willcox.
Licensed Haulers
Southwest Disposal: Primary residential and commercial hauler for Willcox, managed by Waste Connections, Inc.
Sulphur Springs Sanitation: Based in Elfrida, this licensed hauler also serves Willcox.
Commercial customers are required to notify the City if they select an alternative hauler for service.

The Parks and Recreation team oversees the maintenance and enhancement of Willcox’s public parks, ensuring safe, beautiful, and enjoyable spaces for residents and visitors. The team is responsible for routine upkeep, playground safety checks, and seasonal landscaping, as well as coordinating improvements to park facilities.
